As the Lemon Aid Lady, my passion is teaching party plan people – particularly women and especially moms – how to combine their business with their family. When I began my direct sales career nearly 30 years ago, I did it because I wanted to be able to stay home and raise my son, yet make money.

Now my three sons (I went through two pregnancies early in my career) are grown and married with happy families and successful careers. I'm not patting myself on the back, (I give that honor to my good hubby); on the contrary, I desire to share tips and ideas on what works and what doesn't.

Here are just three of many ideas to make your family and business life less stressful:

1.  Know when NOT to combine your family and your business. A good friend with a successful business has a daughter who wanted a unique Christmas gift: For her mom's business to go away! The well-intentioned mom thought it best to always include her children in her business; they thought otherwise. No wonder she had so much resistance even though she was thought to be a success.

2.  Always serve the same menu for dinner on party nights. Knowing what to cook for dinner is hard enough any night, but when you're trying to fix and serve dinner and then head to a party, you might feel overwhelmed and exhausted before you get in the car. Unless you're holding 3-4 parties a night, planning tacos for every party night not only makes your decision and task easy, but something the kids can look forward to.

3.  Create host folders. Have you ever misplaced a guest list or stack of checks from a party? It's embarrassing, I know! My answer was “host folders”, with a fun TWIST of course!
