Get the HELP Out of Your Mouth!
Direct Sales companies
usually have a workbook or manual in consultant kits. These manuals are
chock-full of information about starting and running a successful
business. You need to read all the materials carefully and as soon as
possible or as you're directed.
However, there is just one word in most Direct Sales kits that needs
to be eliminated, crossed-out, and forever forgotten: HELP!
You might see sample suggested scripts like the following:
"Hi Mary, I'm so excited! I just joined xyz home party plan company
and I was wondering if you could HELP me out by hosting a home party
with me."
Or.. "Susan, We've been best friends for a long time, and I've just
signed up as a Direct Sales consultant with ABC party plan company and
I need some HELP getting started. Will you please do me a favor and
host a party? You'll earn some terrific host gifts."
And even..."Darlene, Hi, How are you today? I hope fine. I have some
good news! I just signed up with a Direct Sales company, LMNOP Party
Plan. Can I count on you to HELP me start my business?
This kind of "sales training" is counterproductive because it teaches
you to start out with a beggar mentality! The assumption is that your
these contacts, because they are your friends, will feel sorry for the
poor party plan business person and say yes to HELP them out.
Do you really want to be a beggar? Or would you prefer to be a
business person?
Get the HELP out of your mouth is you want to have a successful
career with Direct Sales.
